Skull Design

I designed and drew my skull that I will be using for my digipak and poster. I decided to use line and dot work in my design to give it that grunge feel that I want to carry on throughout my whole project. rather than doing the dots on paper, I added them on photoshop. I began by drawing my design out on paper and scanning it through onto the computer. After that I coloured in the outline to make it stand out more. The following pictures show the original design on paper, the progress of it being darkened and the final product with colour added on the background.

Change Of Song

Originally I wanted to use The 1975's song Heart Out. As i began editing my video I was beginning to realise that the song just was not making me feel the emotions that I wanted my audience to eel when watching it. Therefore I decided to change my choice of song. At the moment I am torn between Ed Sheeran's 'Give Me Love' and Coldplay's 'Fix You'. These songs will fit much better with the storyline of my video.

The 1975 Front Cover Analysis

i have decided to look particularly at the front cover of The 1975's digipak cover. This album cover appealed to me as the band follows the same design brief that i will be following myself. I like the idea of a band having a certain 'logo' that they are known and recognised for. For example if I was t mention Arctic Monkeys or The Neighbourhood, people would instantly think of their logo. This is what i want to mimic in my own work. The 1975's album cover is extremely simplistic, yet because it has the logo of the band on it, it attracts the bands fans instantly as if they saw it on the shelf, they would know exactly who's album it is.

Choice Of Font

This is the font that I have decided to use for both my digipak and my poster as I am using the same design for the both of them. I chose this font I feel that it has that edgy look that I feel my band would have.

Album Poster Style Models

For my poster I want to keep it simplistic yet effective. Like the Arctic Monkeys and Bring Me The Horizon posters below, I want to keep the same design on my poster as I do on my digipak as from listening to these bands myself i feel that this was an effective way of making the band and their album more  noticeable as if the poster is noticed in a magazine with that certain design on, when it comes to buying it in a store, it is easier to recognise and it becomes a symbol of the band,

Change Of Plan

Due to problems with commitment from a member of my Music Video, I have made the decision to restart the video itself using some clips from the previous video. A new plot for my video is to be confirmed, However, previous research that I have posted will contribute to how I will structure my new video and the initial idea behind it all. As well as my video idea changing, I will also be changing the song that I will be using. Posts including my new plot, characters and song will be posted through the week, including some progress posts and possibly video's of what I previously filmed before my decision to restart.

Front and Back DigiPack

Here is my final and back of my Digi Pack. I have went along with the style of The 1975's album, keeping it simple, yet effective. The white contrasts with the black and stands out making it appealing to buyers if it was to be merchandised.

Music Video Locations

Before filming any of my music video I have to consider the locations that I want to film at. My initial idea before starting the piece included a couple meeting at a fairground, as I knew there would be a lively atmosphere including bright lights and fast paced movements, which I felt would have represented the feelings felt between the couple themselves. However, due to restrictions at the theme park itself I unfortunately could not film there, forcing me to change the video somewhat. Locations I have filmed at so far include; The Quayside, The Baltic, South Sheilds Beach and one of the actors house, where a few shots were taken of the couple which I am still considering to be featured in the video itself. I am still deciding on other locations as I am not particularly sure where I want the video to go at this moment in time. Therefore I am going to begin brainstorming where I think the relationship of the characters can go from here.
